What's in my travel makeup bag?

After many months, my long awaited vacation is finally here. I don't get much vacation time from work and money is a little right, but every year my whole family takes a trip to my Grandparents lake house. This year, I get to spend 4 days with the family and I'm very excited, it's been a long time coming.

I just recently watched a video from Makeupbytiffanyd, and she was packing for New York. She mentioned that the morning of or before her trip she puts on a full face of makeup and brings everything she used so that nothing you would need is forgotten. I then thought to myself, 'What a genius idea.' And that's exactly what I did for this trip.

First was my moisturizer and primer. I ran out of my Jergens Daily Faial moisturizer so I've been using my Clean and Clear Moisturizer which does the job, but it's definitely not my favorite. I'm also running a little low on my Benefit Pore Fessional, so just in case I ran out, I also brought my Lancôme primer which I love!

Foundation didn't really feel necessary for the type of trip I was going on so I packed my Smashbox Camera Ready BB cream. Also, a new purchase, the day of my trip, I also brought along the Smashbox Camera Ready CC cream in light. I wanted to compare the two.

For concealer, my newest favorite is my Nars Creamy Concealer. Unfortunately, this product is also on its last leg. I brought along my Benefit Boing concealer in case I ran out.

Also, I'm sure you heard me talk about this at least once before, my Rimmel Stay Matte powder. An all time must have product. I also packed my Sonia Kashuk Undectable Cream Bronzer and MAC Soft Sand Bronzer. This is the type if vacation where you can really enjoy Bronzer since you are getting a little sun. My highlighter is MAC Superb which is my all time favorite.

My eyebrows are an absolute most. As I showed in my MAC eyeshadow collection I use Cork and Espresso mixed together and i finish that off with Maybelline Great Lash brow gel. Rimmel Scandaleyes in the shade Nude is wonderful to brighten up the eyes. My go to mascara is Maybelline The Rocket mascara and also MAC Painterly paint pot is something I can't forget.

My Z Palette is my travel friend. I always trade out the colors for what I feel necessary for the occasion, and it travels great. My look for this trip has been Naled Lunch on the lid, Soft Brown in the crease, Folie in the outer corner, and Orb as my highlight.

I'm a blush fanatic and even if I'm only going for a few days, I need options. This trip I brought along Blushbaby, Fleur Power, and Pink Tea. I like to choose colors that will go with anything and these three are my go-tos.

My next weakness is brushes. I feel like these are things that you can't slim down on. Travel brushes just don't work for me. So these are the ones that made the cut for the trip.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this. The pictures are great, but I did take these pictures (notice the 80's carpet from the cabin). Thanks again!

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
