June Beauty Favorites

I know you probably hear this all of the time, but June flew by! That's probably because I have a vacation coming up at the end of July that I'm trying to save money for, and time is flying! This month I didn't really experiment much with my normal day to day face makeup. I just wasn't feeling adventurous, and to top that off it's over 100 degrees where I live most days, and the humidity is outrageous! So...when I find something that's working and not making me look like an oily mess, I try to stick to that for a while and hope for the best during my long days.

Now, speaking of not being an oily mess, I have found my holy grail setting powder. I don't know why it took me so long to give this product a try. Especially considering it's $3! The Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is absolutely wonderful. I have never tried anything that compares to this powder. I was a firm believer in MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural, and this is better! On the packaging, this is marketed for 5 hours, and I can say this product kept me matte for at least 8. I usually don't go a full 8 hours without touching up (especially in the summer time), but I had a long day and this proved to hold up to that challenge. Of course, I was a little shiny after all of that time, but compared to what I would have been without this product, it was amazing! Absolutely recommend this product and for $3 you really can't beat it!

...and while we're on the subject of face products, next is Benefit's The Pore Fessional. I hated this product when I first tried it out. The texture of the product really freaked me out if we're being 100% honest. It's thick and dry, feels slightly like putty or paste to me, and I was terrified! After I fought through the texture this product is wonderful. I apply this mostly around my nose, forehead, and chin. Any extra I put on my cheeks. This stuff works! My pores are erased! This is a sample size, which I actually have about 5 more of, so I won't have to go out and buy a full size anytime soon, but I would!

Even for oily skin types, moisturizer is still very important. It's good for your skin to have the moisture. This is Benefit's Total Moisture Facial Cream. This is also a sample size which a bought a while back in a small set of 3 skin care items. I love this product mostly for the smell! It smells amazing! It's very fresh and clean smelling and it does it's job very well! To be honest, I probably would not repurchase the full size, since there are plenty of great moisturizers for much cheaper, but while I have this sample I am definitely taking advantage of it!

Here is another product that I heard a lot about from YouTube Beauty Gurus. I jumped on this band wagon very first, because I am a sucker for concealer, and thank God I did. This product is amazing, and I will be repurchasing this again and again. I am in color number 2 Vanilla. This product does not crease and it last all day! It covers my under eye circles like nobody's business. Another holy grail find for me.

I am so happy I purchased this item. I originally bought this product, instead of dishing out the money on the Chanel version, but this product works wonders and I don't know what I would do with out it! I have a full review of this item here so I'm not going to bore you with anymore details, but just know, this is so worth the money.

My most recent MAC purchase, with my Back to MAC items (please let me know if you'd like me to do a full post on the rules of Back To MAC), is the eyeshadow Folie. I do have a post on my MAC eyeshadow collection and swatches here if you would like to see swatches. This color is my perfect eyeshadow. I use this in my outer corner and it makes my eyes pop. I have never gotten as many compliments on my eyeshadow as I do when I wear this color! A must have in my opinion, I don't know how I didn't notice it sooner.

...and last but not least, my eye pencil by Chella. I received this product in my Ipsy bag this month and I wasn't too excited about it. I tried it out and I fell in love. This pencil under your eyebrows or in your inner corner brings the whole look together. The product is full sized so I shouldn't have to purchase anything like this for a while! It is definitely worth it.

Thank you guys so much for reading!

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
