BATTLE! Ipsy vs Birchbox December

Here we are again for a battle of the subscription boxes! I have to be honest with you guys, this will be the last month of these post. I did cancel my subscriptions. For two reasons, but let's get into that after we find out who the winner is...

Now first things first for Ipsy, I love this months bag. I love these makeup bags because I like to trade them out in my purse every month, and I'm excited to start using this one!

Overall, it didn't seem too exciting at first...

This nail polish is by the brand Nickak, which I've never heard of. The color is beautiful. I looked everywhere and could not find a color name, but it is bright red.

Next is a roll on perfume sample, surprisingly a good size for a sample, and the brand is unknown, but it is called Snow. It seems ok, but nothing to write home about. I can say that after trying this on, my dogs wouldn't leave me alone! Maybe a good thing?

Now this is an impressive size product by Be a Bombshell and it is a stick highlight/blush. It seems to be like the Nars multiples. It's quite shimmery, but it is a pretty color.

Next is a full size NYX lipstick in the shade B52. I am in love with this color. Especially for this season! It's a dark red/nude. Wonderful for my skin tone, and for my taste in lip colors.

Last but not least is an eyeshadow trio by Pop Beauty. I didn't check for the color name, but it's a
neutral palette so it's already a winner in my book. I haven't used much from the brand, but just from my swatches it feels pretty sturdy and very pigmented.

And now we have Birchbox.

First we have a deluxe sample of Dry Shampoo. Once again I assume the brand is Klorane. I don't have anything to say about this at the moment, but it is a good size sample!

Next is a body lotion by Bee Kind. It smells very good, and as always lotion samples are always
handy for my purse and car. It will definitely be used!
Next is a BB cream sample com dr. Brandt. Now I'm going to rant for a moment so be prepared...what is the point of this being a packet sized...what is the point of filling out a beauty profile if you're not going to look at it. Instead of sending me two colors in tiny packets (which are too small for even one full use), why not look at the profile and send the right color in a bigger sample. End rant. Now despite that, it is said to be a matte BB cream, but I really can't review it, because I didn't get enough product too wear a full face of (in the one correct color of course).

We also received 3 packets of tea. Now once again begin rant...why would I get a tea sample? This is a beauty subscription, not a tea subscription. As an extra, it would be a cool idea, as my product that is really disappointing. End rant. I haven't tried them, but the flavors are Peach and Passion Fruit black tea, Jasmine Romance green tea, and English Tea No. 1 black tea. No comment on these so far.
And lastly for samples, a bag of vitamins. What the hell? Now you guessed it, another rant...what the hell? Birchbox, were you on drugs this month. It's December, Christmas season if you weren't aware, and you send us vitamins...I don't know this brand or anything about them, so these will be going in the trash.
And now for the extra, this is a screen cleaner for your phone promoting their new App. Probably my favorite thing from the whole box.
Now let me be fair by saying I understand this is only a $10 subscription, but still. It really feels like they have completely given up on giving good samples to their clients. I do understand that they've gotten a lot more popular, but that should make them better not worse. I cancelled both of my subscriptions before seeing what samples I received this month, and after receiving boxes I didn't regret my decision...for Birchbox. Immediately after opening my Ipsy I regretted it and jumped online to resubscripe for January. So can you guys guess who wins this month?
Now I understand I might have been a little harsh in this post, but I am here to gives honest opinions you guys. I was really disappointed, and I'm sorry, but that is why we have blogs and reviews to begin with.
I was impressed with Ipsy this month, and I would still recommend their services. If you're interested in getting a subscription you can sign up with the link below.

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
