Blogtober Day 2! September Beauty Favorites 2013

Another month down, where has 2013 gone? I can't believe it is almost over. The saying very true, time goes by so much faster the older you are. Well, as usual I have a few products that really stuck out for me.

I have never gotten as many compliments only makeup has I do when I wear my Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. I wore this quite a lot this last month, because it's quick and easy, and I had people stopping me everywhere asking me what I was wearing. It really makes you feel good about yourself when people notice, especially when I do put a lot of time and effort into my makeup each day.

On top of my Jouer Matte Moisture Tint I have been settin it with my MAC Studio Fix Powder. I love the look this powder gives me and I have been very satisfied with the results.

I bought this a few months ago and it was a little light for me in the shade NC20. I decided to keep it since Fall was coming up fast, and now I think the color is perfect for me. On days when I don't wear much makeup I use this powder on top of concealer and go! That's all I need. Very great product.

My only new purchase out of all my favorites this month is my ELF Baked Eyeshadow in Toasted. I believe I heard EmilyNoel89 talk about this product in a recent video and she said it was the perfect Rose Gold. For $3, I wanted to give it a shot.

It really is beautiful. I've been using this as my outer corner color for most of the month and it's subtle, but beautiful. Great buy for the price! As you can see above, my packaging took a little beating, but still works great.

My recent grab from Shopping my Collection is my MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study. I've used Painterly for years and just recently ran out, and instead of running out to repurchase I wanted to use something I already owned. Thank goodness I did. I feel like this color isn't as thick as Painterly, but it still does the job great. No creasing and the colors stay all day.

Here is a swatch above Toasted and you can see they really so go well together.

I always try and use my samples, and this month I reached for my Urban Decay De-Slick in a Tube. I don't know when or where I got this sample, and I've never really heard anyone talk about it. Unfortunately, because it's great. For extremely oily skin like mine, this stuff is like glue, in a good way!

My last beauty product is a sample I received from a recent MAC purchase. The MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash. I usually toss my mascara samples in with all of the others and they are forgotten. Not this time! I made it a point to use this one and I'm glad I did. It's nothin spectacular, but I do like the look it gives. I rarely splurge on a high end mascara, but I'm glad I got to try this one for a little while!

And last but not least, my sock bun! My hair is finally long enough to try this look out. I'm so happy I did.

I've always love the way this looks, but I just couldn't do it with my short curly hair. Finally! I think it is a very classy out together look even if it's just a bun.

That is all for the month of September! Another one bites the dust! Please let me know if you have any recommendations for me!

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
