Craft Space Makeover

Over the past few months, we've been updating our home decor room by room. My craft desk was previously in my breakfast nook area in my kitchen, but it just wasn't gonna work there anymore. At the same time of my redecorating, I'm also doing some serious decluttering (using particularly the Konmari Method, stay tuned for more info) which means I really wanted to downsize this area.

My before area worked for a while like I stated, but I had a lot of stuff! I've slowly been downsizing all of my craft/planner supplies and for my new space I did not have room for my two sets of Alex drawers. With losing a full set of drawers I decided to use a pegboard for some extra storage.

I purchased this pegboard from Home Depot for about $20 which they cut down to my requested size. My new desk top (found here) was 47 and 1/4in so I got the pegboard cut to 42" to have a little space on each side. Also at Home Depot I purchased two packs of pegboard accessories for around $4 each.

Starting in the top right corner. I've taken a floating wall shelf and placed this on two shelf brackets from the accessories set. On this shelf, I've placed my Labrynth POP dolls that my husband gave me for Christmas. Below this I've placed my sticker books which were previously getting lost in my drawers. To the right I've hung my crochet circle with a quote from the podcast My Favorite Murder (great show if you like true crime).

The bottom left is housing my scissors and hole punches. Do I really need three pairs of scissors? Nope, but they're cute. Also above is my wire cutters for all of my artificial plant arrangements, which makes that job SOOOOO much easier. Also on this side is a binder ring holding my washi samples.

The middle is holding four rows of washi tape. The accessories pack included S hooks and then I purchased a dowel for 97 cents at Home Depot which my husband cut into 1 foot pieces. This freed up a ton of drawer space and also looks pretty cute.

The top right corner I've placed a Nate Berkus wall organizer from Target. I believe this was around $9.99 and includes the gold binder clips for photos. The clipboard is an older version from Target Dollar Spot with a card from a Lillie Henry order.

And lastly on the bottom right I have three baskets which were also purchased at Home Depot for $9.94 for the set. In the top I have two galvanized plant holders from Ikea which is holding my excess amount of pens and markers. The medium size basket is holding my thank you notes and envelopes I use for my Etsy store. And the smallest basket is holding a few more washi tapes since they fit perfectly.

Overall, I love this thing. I did have this board cut at 6ft in length so it could rest on the ground and not have to be fully secured into the wood paneling walls. My husband placed three nails in the top with a nail gun which leaves very small damage to the walls, but holds the board tightly in place. Peg boards are cheap and adorable way to help organize areas in your home, not just crafts! Show me your peg boards!

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
