My Top 10 MAC Eyeshadows

I've done a full blog post on all of the MAC eyeshadows I own, but it can become overwhelming. Also, if you're just starting out, there are some ones I would definitely recommend over others. This post is going to be my top 10. The ones I've found I reach for most, and some I just couldn't live without.

Now you might be thinking, "Kady, that's 11." I know, I cheated. Sorry, but I'm not sorry.

This list is in no particular order, just how they were arranged in my ZPalette. This palette is the easiest way I've found to store my top picks. It's easier to maneuver than the big MAC palettes, and it keeps them a lot more organized in my opinion.

Quarry

I would describe this color as a muted brown/plum. This color is great in the outer corner.  It is a matte, and definitely deserves to be in my top picks.

Brule

This is a matte off white color, and amazing as a brow highlight. This color is labeled as a satin, but it definitely applies matte, which I love. I don't like shimmery highlight colors, so this is one of two go to shades.

Folie

This color is described as a plum reddish brown by MAC. I don't really see the plum too much, but a reddish brown is pretty spot on. This is another color that is great for the outer corner (are we seeing a trend?). This to me is like a dark brick color.

All that Glitters

I'm sure we've all heard of Allthatglitters21, and I do have to admit, she picked a great shade to name herself after. This shimmery nude pink will again flatter any skin tone, and I personally love this in my crease. I pair this with Naked Lunch for a nice everyday look that isn't too drastic.

Naked Lunch

This is my number on go to color from MAC. It is so easy to work with, and can really work wonders for any skin tone. It is a light shimmery peachy pink color that is perfect as a day time lid color. As you can see, it is very well loved.

Cranberry

My vibrant pick of the bunch. The name pretty much explains this one, it's cranberry. I LOVE this color. I was scared of it at first, but it blends really easily, and definitely adds a pop of color in your outer corner.

Haux

My favorite one stop shadow of everything I own, this red/plum/brown (again, do we see a trend) is perfect for an easy eye look. All winter last year, I paired this with my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink and rocked it solo. I can't believe I didn't do it this Winter, but it's never too late.

Orb

This again is a matte champagne/cream highlight color, and I couldn't just choose one. These type of colors are used so frequently, I needed two favorites! Perfect highlight, for any skin tone, and I couldn't pass it up.

Soft Brown

It took me a while to purchase this color, and there really is no explanation as to why, but it is my number 1. I'm pretty sure I reach for this at least 4 times a week. Noatrer what other shadows you might be using this color works in the crease. It just defines the eye for any color combination, and I really couldn't live without it. It is a matte "Soft Brown" as the  describes, and an absolute must have.

Cork and Espresso

...and for my cheaters. Cork and Espresso. My eyebrow colors. If you've been reading me for a while, you probably know I'm eyebrow obsessed, and I couldn't leave these out. I've recently gone back to powder brows, and these have always been my picks. This was once a kit from MAC for redheads, and I luckily already owned the two and paired them together. Change-Ching, they definitely got this one right, it's perfect for redheads, especially fake one like me.

So what are your favorite MAC shadows? I'm always looking for suggestions!

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
