March Beauty Favorites

Thank goodness it is almost April. I hate March! I know that might seem crazy, but for the past 4 years, March has been my worst month. Something always goes wrong. It has gotten to the point that I dread March. Now although, March hates my personal life, it was a pretty good month for beauty products. I have quite a few, so be prepared.  And not only beauty products, but drugstore products! Let us jump right in.

I'll start from the bottom up, and as a primer, I am in love with the No. 7 Beautifully Matte primer. This stuff works! I haven't used anything else since I purchased it, which was from Target for $9.99. I love finding drugstore products that really work, it doesn't feel like such an investment to fall in love.

Now for foundation, I used to hate this product, and I have no idea why, but it is the Coergirl Putlast 3 in 1 foundation. This stuff has been my every day choice all month. I couldn't tell you what I disliked about this before, but now it just might be holy grail. Hooray for another drugstore choice!

Sonia Kashuk has a new display at my local Target's, which means that they had a ton of stuff on clearance to make room. I picked up this powder for $3 and some change, and thank goodness I did. I have already hit pan! It is the Bare Minimum Pressed Powder in light. I thought it might be being repackaged, but I checked today, and it looks like might not be making it anymore. Very disappointing, but if you can still grab it on sale, it's a must try.

I've been shopping my collection more and more, and my favorite grab is the ELF Blush/Highlighter in Gotta Glow has quickly made its way into my everyday routine. $3, it really doesn't seem like you can do much better. This stuff sets my Maybelline brightener wondefully, and makes my skin the perfect amount of "glowy" for an every day look.

My eyebrows have not been working for me AT ALL, which means I spent a lot of time touching them up. My Maybelline Fit Me concealer is in my makeup bag, and man has it been a lifesaver. I've never really liked it for blemishes, but I've fallen in love with it for the brow problems. I put it on a flat brush and touch up any mistakes, and it matches my skin perfectly!

Along the same lines, I just recently picked up the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Brightener concealer that everyone raves about. I now see what all of the hype is about. I haven't used anything else under my eyes since I purchased this item. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to last very long, but it does a wonderful job!

My eyeshadow color choices aren't as experimented with as I wish they were sometimes, but I at least try to change it up and use different brands I own. This month I reached for my MAC palettes and quickly forgot why I had ever stopped using Soft Brown. This color is probably my favorite eyeshadow of all time (and that is serious). Absolute perfect crease color. Another all time favorite is MAC Cranberry. Beautiful color,  for every skin tone if you ask me, and perfect for the outer corner. I'm pretty sure these two shades would be in my top MAC eyeshadow picks, would anyone be interested in my top 10?

For lips (what? A lip product, from me) I have been LOVING the Vaseline Lip Therary in Rosy Lips. As I've said, I don't wear many lip products, but I decided to throw this in my bag along with all of my other chapsticks. This stuff is great! It doesn't add much color, which I prefer, but it still makes me feel like my look is complete.

Lastly, is a perfume. The Pacifica Blood Orange perfume. I love this, and have since the first time I smelled it. This is my second roller ball, and again it was on clearance at Target (they better keep selling it, I will probably cry if the discontinue), and I definitely couldn't pass it up. This stuff is perfect for Spring and Summer, and the scent really lasts. It is quite strong, but sometimes I want it that way! It really brightens my mood, especially on work days.

So that my friends is the end of my drugstore monthly beauty favorites. That was not planned at all, but I love when the cheaper products can really beat out some of the higher end products in my collection. What were you loving this month?

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
