January Beauty Favorites

Snow Day! Now by this point I'm sure you guys have seen how crazy Atlanta has been the past couple of days (I mean come on guys we were on CNN). I had a lot of time to think about my favorites for this month, because I was in the car last night for 11 hours to go 14 miles! Now can we just think about that for a minute, ahhhh! Now that it is over I am very thankful, some had it much worse than me. At least I had gas and heat and a lot of people were not as fortunate. Now moving on, January is over, and I only have one thing to say about that, THANK GOD! This month was crappy for our weather here in Georgia and I'm ready for Spring. So let's jump into my beauty favorites!

Starting from the bottom (now we're here) my new holy grail primer. Maybelline Baby Skin. I have a full blog post on this product so I won't say too much, but it is great. And for the price, it's a win win.

My two newest products for my collection are my Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + and Duo Mat Powder. Both of these were Christmas purchases with my very much appreciated Sephora gift cards. I also did a full post on this foundation, but the powder is also wonderful. Both are pricey, but for the quality they are a great splurge.

For a concealer, I've been using my Benefit Boi-ing, but not as a concealer. I have been using this as my "eyebrow cleaner upper". I never liked this product for my face concealer, but it has been wonderful for my brows. It really covers, which is perfect for any mistakes. I'm very happy I tried it for this purpose, because I will never be able to live without.

My MAC Painterly paint pot was a long time favorite. I finished mine a couple of months ago, which I didn't know was even humanly possible, and I was sure I could find a substitute. I was wrong! I quickly realized nothing I owned compared and I was really missing it. I finally splurged and now I have it back in my grasp and couldn't be happier.

It seems like I've been in a hurry pretty much every day this month, which is why this product has come in handy. My Naked Basics palette has always been an item which is very quick and easy. I don't like the look without any eyeshadow, but this makes my eyes pop without making me late for work. I love the natural look you get with these colors which really can work for anyone.

Another product I tried to live without is my Maybelline The Rocket mascara. I recently tried to stray away by trying other options and I was only disappointed. Nothing was comparing to my newest mascara love and I had to revert back.

As for cheeks, I haven't touched any other blushes since I bought this palette. Once again, I have a full post on this product, but I couldn't not mention it. The Bronzer has really been my favorite, which is Park Avenue Princess, and is available permanently from Tarte. A very nice and flattering color, in my opinion.

Lastly for makeup is my Mary Lou Manizer by theBalm. This stuff has quickly made its way into my every day list. I finally found the right brush to apply this, and it has changed the game. Very flattering on the skin, and the glow is perfect.

That's all folks! Nothing too crazy, but my picks for this month! What have you been loving?

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
