July Beauty (and one extra) Favorites

Hello there everyone! Another month in 2014 has come to an end, and I quickly realized I really didn't have that many stand out beauty products. I contemplated not doing this post, but I thought a few products were better than none. I was out of town pretty much this whole month, and that is a big reason why I don't have many new products to share. I'll go ahead and jump right in.

My cheat for the month will probably come as no surprise, and that is my Erin Condren Life Planner. I won't go into too many details since I have done a few post on this product alone, but I love it and it's so worth the money.

My newest beauty product is the Lorac Pro 2 Palette. This baby is wonderful. I also have a full blog post review on this product, but I'm pretty sure I used this thing every day in July. Good job Lorac!

An oldy product is MAC Well Dressed. I brought this with me on my work trip, and it reminded me that this can really go with any look. It brightens your cheeks, but isn't too over powering. It's a neutral baby doll pink that would flatter a lot of skin tones.

My Stila Stay All Liquid Liner made it's way back into my heart this month. I love the thin line this product gives, and the staying power is impressive. It's pricey, and drugstore products can compare, but if you're looking for a high end product this is your guy.

I purchased this new Maybelline Mascara a few months ago, but I waited to open it since I did have a stockpile. I was completely out of all of my favorites right before my trip so I dove into this one. Let me say, this is not a holy grail mascara, hut it is good. The brush is HUGE and it is a really thick dramatic formula, which I love. Good mascara from the drugstore, but it doesn't beat The Rocket!

Another oldy, and holy grail is the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet +. I threw this in my makeup bag for my trip at the very last minute, and thank God I did. Nothing else was working for me, but this bad boy was there to save the day. The weather was very different from home, and my skin wasn't happy about it, but this foundation really stood strong and looked good all day.

This was another product I had in my back up drawer that I pulled out for the trip. The Sonia Kashuk Clear Brow Gel went along for the ride with me, and it worked great. This is another product, that I would prefer my high end favorite, which is the Anastasia Brow Gel, but this is half the price, and it's great!

A very rare product for me to love is nail polish, but this oldy made it's way back into my life. This is Essie Buy Me A Cameo, which I'm sorry but I'm not sure of this was limited edition. If it is, it's one of the colors that does get re-released very frequently. I love this Rose gold-ish color, and I think it's a flattering color for most outfits.

What were your favorites this month?

Blogtober Day 24! DIY Remove Black Stains from Hardwood Floors

This blog is coming to you by accident, of course. I don't know if I've mentioned it much on this blog, but I have two pitbulls. I know, a lot to handle, and one of them is a puppy. She is horrible sometimes, but I can't help but love her. Our whole house is hardwood floors, which I love! With my two dogs, if the happen to have an accident it's really easy to clean up...or so I thought.  We have had a large living room rug down for about 6 months now. Over the weekend we decided to take it outside and air it out and do a little "Fall Cleaning". Low and behold underneath the rug were huge dark black spots on the hardwood. I immediately jumped on Pinterest to see what to do. It turns out dogs urine causes the wood to turn black (who knew?). So I found a solution that I'm really excited to share with you.  Peroxide! Awesome, I had plenty on hand and immediately started to try it out. At first I used a paint brush to apply it to the specific areas.  Almo

Personal Planner Setup

I have been using a planner for as long as I can remember. My little OCD self needs something to keep me grounded and on track. About 3 years ago I discovered Erin Condren as well as the planner community on social media (if you are a planner person check them out, it is such a positive and supportive group of people). If you're not familiar, the Erin Condren Life Planner is an A5 size planner (7" by 9") and is a thick planner. For me, this type of planner is not convenient for every day use so this planner stays at home on my desk and is used mostly for my creative side, not functionality. This brings me to my personal size planner, I use a Kate Spade Wellesley planner which can be bought at the Kate Spade Outlet stores (these outlets will ship to you so call around if you don't live close to one and are interested). Currently as pictured above I am using the red version which was re-released this Summer, and I also have a black version which is always in stock.

DIY IKEA Kitchen Shelf

It is finally complete! I have been working on decorating this bad boy for a few weeks now and I'm in love! Thanks to my dear husband we were able to turn this cheap IKEA shelving unit into an adorable farmhouse style kitchen shelf pretty easily. See below for our step by step!    This is the IKEA Mulig Shelving Unit which is $59.99 for the largest size. This measures 47 1/4x13 3/8x63 3/4 "    We purchased a 3/4" piece of plywood at Home Depot in which we got cut in store for each shelf. These measure 46 1/2" by 13"    Also at a Home Depot we purchased a tube of Loctite Power Grip and a small can of Golden Pecan stain . This stain matches a few other items in our house so they would all look cohesive.    Once home, let the staining begin.      After one coat of stain was dry we used the Loctite to place the plywood on the shelves. We used sand bags to weigh down e
